six great online design mags

TGIF! So excited for the weekend. True, every day is kind of like the weekend for me these days, but the weekend means Jordan is home, yay!...In preparation for the weekend, I thought I would round up some great design and lifestyle mags that you can read Saturday morning with a cup of coffee (or 3). I am a magazine hoarder, and I have an assortment of subscriptions I pay for, but these are free and some of them are even better than the ones I buy. Do you read any online mags?

Rue (monthly)
As I mentioned in the post about Rue Daily, this is my fave online magazine. They feature style, design, recipes, entertaining ideas and great blogs...it is chock full of inspiring and beautiful things! 

Adore (bimonthly)
An Australian online mag that "invites you to inspirational homes, looks at the latest products on the market and whisks you away to gorgeous holiday destinations" (taken from their website). Beautiful, bright and modern! 

Lonny (bi-monthly)
One of the very best, if not the best. Lonny was created by a couple of staff members from the late and amazing Domino magazine. It is full of unique and beautiful interiors and lifestyle features. Love love love it! Such high quality it's hard to believe it's free. 

Sweet Paul (quarterly)
A magazine based on the very popular blog of the same name that has beautiful ideas for entertaining, crafts, recipes, travel, etc. 

Est (quarterly)
Another Australian publication that takes "a relaxed and stylish view, showcasing some of the worlds best homes, interiors, fashion, luxury goods, travel and lifestyle" (taken from their website). 

91 Magazine (quarterly)
This UK based mag is new to me, but it has great style tips, design, crafts with a vintage-y twist.

hello rue daily!

My favourite online magazine Rue made an announcement today - I'm so excited about it and wanted to share if you haven't already heard. Rue mag now has a website full of daily inspiration: Rue Daily. It used to feel like half a year before new issues would be out (in reality it's bimonthly), but now there is a place to go whenever you want a taste of their beautiful finds and features...Decor & Inspiration, Fashion & Style, Trends & Shopping, and Lifestyle & Entertaining - basically all my favourite things! Since this is only day one of the site there is a good starting point for content, but they will obviously be adding more each day. Admittedly the site is a little buggy right this minute, but we will give them some leeway because it has only been live for a few hours...In the meantime, here are a few images from the site...but you should really go check it out to see for yourself.

faux taxidermy fun

We've been in the house for over a year, but we still have a lot of sad bare walls. I want to remedy this as soon as possible, but I'm always scared to buy something and make a decision about "art"...so I endlessly look and never purchase. But we need fun and pretty things to look at in our home. That's why when I was in Marda Loop yesterday and saw some great faux taxidermy busts at Wild About Flowers I got very excited! ...but as usual didn't buy. Instead I decided to look around and see what else is out there. Look what I found! I am not a fan of actual taxidermy, but the resin and papier-mache versions are fun and whimsical. What do you think?

Mahzer & Vee (Etsy) - Resin animals - Prices range from $40 for a small bust to $110 for a large one. They will make the animals in any colour you would like, or you can just go for flat white.

Anthropologie - Smiling Hippo Bust - Papier-mache; $198

4, 7: 

White Faux Taxidermy - Resin animals - Prices range from $30 for a miniature to $170 for more ornate, large busts. 

I think my favourite might be the gold bear, but I can't decide! We will probably end up with white, because it "matches" everything...that is if we can make a decision at all.
